So as I sit in my second office, I realize the simple fact that desire or motivation to do things ultimately determines what we actually do. Granted there are outside forces that will limit us in certain ways (time, money, etc.) but ultimately it's the "want" factor that will even override those obstacles. What I'm really getting at though is if you want something enough you'll make it happen. My newest challenge to myself is determining what "wants" should be taking the top of my priority list, and then doing them. This is easier said than done. Reason why? Wanting to eat healthy, exercise, and being fit is harder than being lazy and eating unhealthy (but tasty!) foods. Letting your kids watch TV is easier than playing with them. Reading the bible or doing yoga is harder than watching a movie. The truth is that things of value come at a price, and if your value scale is off, you will be too.

Spring time, the catch 22...
Spring time is the one season I have a very love/hate relationship with. Summer is great, warm temperatures, mother nature in full bloom, even rainy days bring thunderstorms which are awesome. Fall is nice, the changing colors, the smells, Steelers football, and winter isn't all that bad if you can get out and enjoy the snow but spring has the most conflict for me. It's just wet, messy, muddy, and always dirty. The weather is up and down, and it just seems to take forever to make the transition out of winter! Plus you have all the clean up that has complied from the winter that sucks, but the one silver lining is that warmer weather and summer is just around the corner. I dunno I like change and everything, I just wish it was a bit quicker is all...
Drinking before noon...
Somehow the topic of drinking before noon was brought up by a friend of mine. Now I don't know why that topic was one that needed discussion, but we did anyway. We pretty much concluded starting to drink early was only really exceptable when there is a special event or holiday, and you have to do it with others so that you don't break any social norms. Now our conversation ended with that, but I was thinking what was the social norm in the old days? More importantly did drinking before noon or in general happen more often the farther back in time you go? My thoughts would have to say yes because all in all the older generations just seemed to be more easy going and not so PC like today's masses. And to that I say cheers!

An ass out of you and me...
So it has come to my thoughts the very real need to start to think harder. Now I know that statement might sound funny, even idiotic, but let me explain. I assume that people around me are competent individuals. That they care about what they are doing and want to do the best they can. I sadly realize though that some people are merely content with par performance. Now I can say that I might fall victim to not always "bringing it" 110% 24/7, but I'll be damned if I don't make sure when the time counts and push comes to shove I'm in it to win it. I get upset though when easy, simple tasks can not be completed with any sense of diligence or pride. As if it's not that important or even below them to put time and energy into doing something right. It may be they are short sighted or ignorant, even apathetic but the truth remains it only shows their inability to be trusted to do things without direct supervision or guidance and THAT is what is going to cause me to have to think harder. I'm going to have to think for myself and for those whom have any investment in any facet of my life if I'm going to raise the bar to the next level.
